FAQ –
Do your interfaces charge the New 3g iPhone and newer ipods
Yes !. All USA SPEC kits charge either your new or older iPod/iPhones when connected to our kit.
Apple did change the connector some of on newest models late last summer. USA SPEC has engineered a new cable that now works with all current and older ipods. This new cable is now shipped free with all USA SPEC models.
Can I install the Kits myself?
If you are handy and familiar with car stereo, our kits is relatively simple to install. All connections are play and play. However in most cases you need to remove the factory radio for installation. Therefore we recommend professional installation.
If I have an older USA SPEC unit, can I still get a new cable that Charges the new iPods/iPhones?
Yes, the new cables are back word compatible, so they support all older and newer iPods and iPhones. We have 2 models of the new cables. The CBPA 85 works with all our PA10/11/12 kits. The CBPA 105 works with all our PA15/20 kits. Note these new cables are now packaged free in all our new kits.
Do your kits with the iPhone?
Yes, all our models with the new and older iPhones, including the new 3G iPone. They also correctly charge all the new 3G iPhones.
What happens when I receive a call and my iPhone is connected
The sound from the stereo will automatically mute and the phones ring will be heard over the factory radio speakers. When the call answered on the iPhone, it will enter privacy mode and the iPhone operates as it normally does during a call. No sound will come from the stereo system. Once a call is completed the sound returns to the factory radio.
Can I still manually control my ipod when the Kit is connected ?
Yes simply select DIRECT MODE at any time when an iPod is connected. This is now an option on all our newer units with our new DUAL MODE feature. All you have to do is select DIRECT mode on the factory radio. This is typically a preset on the radio. When you select DIRECT MODE, all your iPod controls are activated and uses has complete control and access to their iPod.
Do I have to disconnect my SAT Tuner, either XM or Sirius?
No, for all newer USA SPEC models, there is no loss of SAT Tuner functions or features.
Do I have to disconnect my IN DASH CD Changer ?
No, you do not lose any IN DASH CDC features or functions with our kits. Please note if you have an external CD Changer ( for instance in trunk ) it may have to be disconnected.
Do your kits work with the new or older Apple Shuffle ?
Sorry, they do not. The shuffles models have no connections for outboard control and do not work with any of our interfaces.
If I have a Sat tuner activated and used can I still connect your kit?
Yes, all newer USA SPEC KITS. For most newer 2005 and up GM, Honda, Toyota, Lexus and Acura vehicles there is no conflict with existing SAT Tuners or internal CD Changers. You can have both our iPod interface connected and still have full features and functions of your SAT Tuner.
If I do not have a SAT button, can I still connect your kit?
Yes for almost all newer USA SPEC models. Unlike most other brands, we use either the SAT TUNER connection or the CDC/DVD connection on the radio. This was if a newer vehicle does not have a Sat TUNER button, you can still connect most USA SPEC kits.
Will I see TEXT, SONG TITLE INFORMATION on the radio.
Yes when using our KITS on most newer factory radios that support TEXT. These include most 2006 and up GM, HONDA, ACURA, TOYOTA and LEXUS vehicles. Most older radios 2004 and back do not support text. Check our product guide to verify a specific make or model vehicle.
